Enter the star-filled world of Slovak artist Petra Kostova

1 March 2018

Slovak artist Petra Kostova creates swirling galaxies from millions of tiny dots.

Now based in Copenhagen, Kostova uses technical ink pens to build up waves of dots in a delicate process known as stippling. Each dot varies in size and intensity, with the artist’s smallest pen measuring just 0.1mm thick.

Kostrova says she finds the time-consuming process “meditative and extremely satisfying”. “I am endlessly inspired by natural landscapes, waves, geometric shapes, and most of all space, stars and galaxies”, she says.
