These Lithuanian tiles transform any room into a Soviet apartment block

13 March 2018

A Lithuanian design studio is transforming one of the hottest venues in Kaunas with the concrete charm of Soviet-era tower blocks.

Gyva Grafika, a local company specialising in wall graphics and design, created the tiles for the city’s Galeria Urbana bar. Each tile shows a different towerblock window, complete with curtain-twitching neighbours.

The venue is well-known for its artsy crowd, but don’t worry if you don’t immediately spot the replica towerblock on your first visit: it is hidden away as a quirky touch in the restaurant’s WC.
