The burning creativity of the New East has forged a new generation of designers and creatives, transforming the region into a hotbed of talent for the global fashion scene.

Calvert 22 Foundation is celebrating the best of post-Soviet design with a dedicated day-long event digging into moving boundaries, style and identity in the global age.

Academics and young designers from Austria, Ukraine and the UK will be looking at how fashion embraces global borders and displacement, with special talks on fashion and migration.

The symposium, which is run in partnership with TrAIN: The Research Centre for Transnational Art, Identity and Nation, University of the Arts London, and the Institute of Contemporary Arts (ICA), will be taking place at Calvert 22 Space in Shoreditch on Saturday 17 March.

It forms one part of a series of high-fashion talks taking over London, with New Fashion Narratives at Chelsea College of Arts on Thursday 15 March, and Fashion and the New East: Made in Georgia at the ICA on Friday 16 March.
