Russian streetwear brand Yunost launches KFC collection

23 April 2018

Post-Soviet poster boy Gosha Rubchinsky collabed with Burberry and Carhartt WIP. Moscow-based label Walk of Shame brought a new edge to its work with Reebok. Now Russian streetwear brand Yunost has launched its own fashion collaboration — with global fast food chain KFC.

Featuring sweatshirts, jackets, hoodies and key chains, the 31-piece collection infuses the brand’s classic 90s silhouettes with vintage KFC logos — as well Cyrillic rendering of the fast food chain’s name.

It debuted in a catwalk show in one of KFC’s Moscow restaurants, with models clutching buckets of chicken wings and fries.

Founded in the United States by two Russian designers back in 2013, Yunost has been growing its own cult following between Moscow and Miami.

The new range blends minimalist design and the KFC’s easily-recognisable colour scheme, said co-founder Maxim Ivanov.

“The idea of global brands collaborating with local labels from completely different industries inspired us to create this collection,” he said. “It’s experimenting with the underground.”
